How do I Check the Status of My Florida Notary Application?

Florida processes notary applications on a first-received, first-processed basis. The processing timeline begins when the Florida Department of State receives your application, not when you mail it. Processing can take up to 8 weeks, depending on application volume.

To check the status of your application:

  • Visit the Florida Notary Search and search for your name. If your commission has been issued, your information will appear in the database.
  • Check the Florida Document Processing Dates page to see the receipt date of the applications currently being processed. This allows you to compare your application's received date with the state's current processing date.

Important: If it has been less than 8 weeks since the state received your application, your application is likely still within the normal processing timeframe. If it has been longer than 8 weeks, contact your notary bonding agency or processor for assistance in checking your application's status.
